Following the £1 million invested in the initial Opportunity Areas as part of the Careers & Enterprise Fund 2016, we have invested another £1.5 million in the Government’s Opportunity Areas.

The £1.5 million fund has been shared between 21 programme providers that were part of the Opportunity Areas Catalogue.  They were selected by schools, to deliver activity across the six Opportunity Areas: Doncaster, Ipswich, Bradford, Fenland & East Cambridgeshire, Hastings and Stoke-on-Trent.

Funding has been invested in programmes that demonstrate their effectiveness in working with the young people in greatest need of support. This funding will give young people in schools and colleges in the Opportunity Areas access to employers, so they can have the encounters they need to be inspired and prepared for the world of work.

We will be working with all of the successful grant recipients to measure the impact of the programmes we are funding and ensure they are achieving the maximum impact on the young people across the Opportunity Areas, we will be collecting data, including pupil reach, to track progress, evaluate impact and create insight into the activities we are funding.
