Since October 2015 The Gatsby Charitable Foundation has been running a pilot in the North East Local Enterprise Partnership area based on the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance.

The government’s Careers Strategy asked us to scale up this model establishing 20 Careers Hubs across the country.

The initial pilot will run for two academic years, from September 2018 to July 2020. We will be testing and evaluating whether being part of a Careers Hub helps secondary schools and colleges and accelerates their progress towards meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks and ultimately improves a range of outcomes for young people in the local area.

Our Careers Hubs can be found in the following Local Enterprise Partnerships:

  1. Black Country
  2. Buckinghamshire Thames Valley
  3. Cornwall & Isles of Scilly
  4. Cumbria
  5. Greater Manchester
  6. Heart of the South West
  7. Humber
  8. Lancashire
  9. Leeds City Region
  10. Leicester & Leicestershire
  11. Liverpool City Region
  12. New Anglia
  13. North East
  14. Solent
  15. South East
  16. Stoke & Staffordshire
  17. Swindon & Wiltshire
  18. Tees Valley
  19. West of England
  20. Worcestershire
  21. York, North Yorkshire and East Riding

In addition to the 20 new Careers Hubs we have agreed to continue to fund the North East Hub, which will use its expertise to support new Careers Hubs across the country.

A total of 710 schools and colleges will be in a Careers Hub, equating to one in five secondary schools and colleges in England.
