Summary of local context
Coventry and Warwickshire LEP area is situated in the Heart of England. The area includes the County of Warwickshire with a population of 545,474 people and the City of Coventry with a population of 316,900. By 2031 it is estimated that Coventry and Warwickshire will have increased in population by 203,000 and generated 94,500 jobs.
Our vision is to build on our central location, employment sites and innovation assets.
Coventry and Warwickshire is recognised as global hub in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME). AME currently employs 34,000 people in the area, accounting for 10% of employment. Other priority areas are IT, digital and creative, logistics, culture/tourism, healthcare, business and professional services.
Summary of local project
The CWLEP project will work with key stakeholders including local authorities, our Growth Hub, RightStep Careers, Business in the Community, National Careers Service to target 20 schools. These schools are drawn from all parts of the sub-region and include all types of schools – some with sixth forms, single sex, faith and grammar. Some of the schools have already engaged in enterprise activity whereas some will be new to it. In addition some schools are from areas where the number of young people not in education, employment and training (NEET) is high.
By placing the Enterprise Coordinator in CWLEP’s Growth Hub the Coordinator will have access to a range of Advisers working with over 3,000 employers from which to draw Enterprise Advisers.
