Fuelling young people’s futures

Research shows that encounters with employers bring the world of work to life for students. A young person who has 4 or more encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training and can earn up to 18% more during their career.

We already know there is great work happening to inspire and support young people, and we want to help build on this to make sure every young person receives at least these 4 encounters.

A network to connect the dots

To connect young people with the world of work, we have created a nationwide network of schools, colleges, businesses and careers activity programmes. Being part of our network is completely free and has a range of benefits for your school.

Support from your local Enterprise Coordinator

Your free, trained local Enterprise Coordinator works with a group of schools to develop your careers plan and connect you to the careers activity happening in your area.

Match with business volunteers

Your school will also be matched with a dedicated business volunteer, who we call an Enterprise Adviser. They will help you to move your plan forward by using their connections in the local business community.

Employers and careers activity programmes

The final part of the network is a community of companies who provide either direct opportunities for your students or careers activities in your schools or college. Your Enterprise Coordinator and Adviser will help you to connect with the most appropriate companies and create impactful encounters for your students.

Evaluate your activity with Compass

We produced the free Compass tool in partnership with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. Compass helps you to evaluate your careers activity quickly and easily to identify your school or college's strengths and areas for improvement. Compass has been improved for the 2017/18 school year and is a great place to start for schools and colleges.

Plan your activity with Tracker

Once your school or college is part of the Enterprise Adviser Network and has completed an evaluation with Compass, you will have access to our Tracker careers activity planning tool. Tracker allows you to plan and record your school or college’s annual careers activities, supported by you Enterprise Adviser.
