What is modern work experience?

Work experience is modernising to raise quality by ensuring it develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours young people will need in the workplace and, crucially, to ensure equity for under-resourced young people across England.

Work experience is evolving, and we want to keep employers up to date and informed. 

Our role is to lead the system, making it easier for you to play your part. We set the frameworks. We make sure Careers Hubs give you the tools and introductions you need to connect directly with schools and colleges. We provide resources and guidance to help you get started, learn from best practice, and ensure that every contribution you make is purposeful and valued. equalex underpins it all - the national framework developed by CEC offering clarity and making sure opportunities are fair and inclusive.
