Environmental Statement

The Careers and Enterprise Company is focused on becoming a sustainable organisation and we are working to improve our ecological footprint through adopting sustainable practices in our everyday lives.

We will achieve this by working with all of our colleagues to plan and integrate sustainability into all areas of our business practices. As part of our contribution to UK United Nations Climate Change COP26 commitments, we are analysing our current and future environmental impacts so that we can plan and target real, measurable improvements. This will ensure we support the UK governments Net Zero Strategy and we commit to achieving carbon Net Zero ourselves by 2050.

We work with many organisations in the course of providing the vital careers support which is at the heart of our offer. As part of our work, we will encourage our stakeholders, partners, suppliers, and all business associates to co-opt our commitment to Net Zero and constantly improve their impact on the environment.

To support this goal, we commit to:

Corporate Action: Positive engagement with all of our employees to encourage environmental awareness, knowledge, and participation to comply with or exceed the requirements of current environmental legislation.

Energy Management: Minimise our usage of all types of fuels and prioritising usage of energy from sustainable sources.

Water Management: Minimise water usage in our buildings to conserve supplies and minimise our consumption of natural resources.

Waste Management: Reduce the amount of waste we produce and send to landfill, re-using/using recyclable materials where possible and recycling as much of it as possible.

Sustainable Purchasing: Procure materials and products from environmentally responsible suppliers and prioritise sustainable sources.

Sustainable Practice: Apply the principles of continuous improvement in respect of air, water, noise, and light pollution from our premises, to reduce any impacts from our operations on the environment and local community. Assess the environmental impact of any new processes or products we intend to introduce in advance of implementation.

This sustainability statement and our Net Zero commitment are part of our duty of care towards students, education and training institutions, our local communities, and the future generations who will inhabit the planet.
