Insight briefing - Gatsby Benchmark results for 2024/25

This insight briefing shares headlines about careers provision in England from the 2024/25 academic year.
Findings are based on a national dataset of 4,863 state-funded mainstream schools, special schools, alternative provision and colleges (94% of secondary institutions), including 75 independent special schools with Section 41 funding. With reporting at its highest ever level, the dataset provides a robust national picture of careers education. This insight briefing highlights key trends and where there has been notable change over the last ten years.
From September 2025, schools and colleges will begin working towards the updated Gatsby Benchmarks. The refreshed framework, which has a stronger focus on inclusion, leadership, use of data and parental engagement, has been revised to ensure careers education continues to evolve and deliver impact for every young person.
